Situated on land between Great Homer Street and Kirkdale Road, Everton, the Marwood Towers development has transformed a landmark building into high-quality modern apartments, including specialist accommodation for over 55s. Marwood Towers originally opened in 1965 as ‘general needs’ flats, but over time became rundown and outdated. The ambitious redevelopment called for the complete refurbishment of the original 57 flats and the addition of 24 new-build apartments, providing supported accommodation. The scheme provides high-quality apartments and a range of community facilities.
Davies Partnership designed the MEP Services with the production of Design and Build Specifications, whilst remaining Client side post tender to provide installation stage support and quality monitoring which included checking the Contractors MEP design. We assisted LMH during the final commissioning and handover stage ensuring compliance certification was provided for each system and client training implemented.
MEP highlights include a firefighting lift with standby generator and a high efficiency community gas fired heating system serving heat interface units in each apartment. A domestic sprinkler system was installed throughout and part funded by Mersey Fire and Rescue to promote the installation of sprinklers within existing tower blocks.
Davies Partnership have provided a highly professional service. They have shown commitment, added value and have been driven by a solution focused mentality adopting a great attention to detail. In particular, Tony & Richard have drawn on their many years of experience which has been of immeasurable importance to the project team throughout the M&E design. They have been a great asset to the project team during construction and I certainly would not hesitate to recommend them to others.Nicolette Cullen Land & Development Manager, PDW
